Transparency
I believe transparency is at the heart of any good enterprise. As a result, I let my clients know my exact fee for every assignment upfront.
For copy-editing and proofreading assignments, I always use the 'Track changes/Review’ tool on Word or Pages, which enables the client to see exactly what I have amended. When both copy-editing/proofreading and translating, I regularly write comments to explain my choices, ask questions or give feedback about the original text.
After delivering a translated or copy-edited/proofread text, I am always available for questions or feedback. By its very nature, translation and copy-editing/proofreading requires me to make changes to a text that the author has invariably spent a lot of time working on, so it is important that the final product is right in every way.
Environment
I support a healthy and liveable planet and do everything in my power to have as small an impact on our environment as possible.
Most of the work I do is from my office and requires few materials. I use 100% renewable electricity and recycled or reused paper for the rare occasions when I need a physical copy. When travelling on business, I always use public transport and when returning to the UK I either travel by train or offset my flights.
